Ashland, MA, December 2, 2013 --- The National Association of the Remodeling Industry (NARI) has named GMT Home Designs along with Encore Remodeling 2013 Contractor of the Year (CoTY) in the Whole House Remodel under $500K category of its annual awards competition.
Contractors from seven regions around the country vie for CotY Awards on an annual basis, and all regional winners will be eligible for National CotY Awards at NARI’s Evening of Excellence in the Spring of 2014.
Judging was based on problem solving, functionality, aesthetics, craftsmanship, innovation, degree of difficulty and entry presentation. To be considered for a CotY Award, a company must be a NARI member in good standing. NARI members represent an elite group from the approximately 800,000 companies and individuals in the U.S. identifying themselves as remodelers.
The Winning Project
The owners of this cape style home were looking to create additional living space to accommodate family and friends while staying within the same footprint of the existing house. They also wanted a home designed for flow, feel and function. The homeowner was also hoping to create more of a coastal home feel rather than a vacation house to visit.
The addition of dormers and the conversion of the garage into interior living space fulfilled the clients desire for increased square footage. Dramatic redesign of the first and second floors included creating master suites on each level, and a great room including a three season room provided better use of the original space.
The interior design opened the rooms to flow from one to the other to give the feel of continuity. Each space was designated to function in a particular way.
Texture and color was strategically used to pull you through the house with a feeling of serenity. Subtle unique coastal touches added to the whimsical feel the client wanted to achieve.
