2013 Contractor of the Year Award Winning Kitchen Remodel

Ashland, MA, December 2, 2013 --- The National Association of the Remodeling Industry (NARI) has named GMT Home Designs along with Encore Remodeling 2013 Contractor of the Year (CoTY) in the Residential kitchen under $50K category of its annual awards competition.

Contractors from seven regions around the country vie for CotY Awards on an annual basis, and all regional winners will be eligible for National CotY Awards at NARI’s Evening of Excellence in the Spring of 2014.

Judging was based on problem solving, functionality, aesthetics, craftsmanship, innovation, degree of difficulty and entry presentation. To be considered for a CotY Award, a company must be a NARI member in good standing. NARI members represent an elite group from the approximately 800,000 companies and individuals in the U.S. identifying themselves as remodelers.

The Winning Project

The owners of this cape style home were looking to improve the overall flow and function in their kitchen as well as the aesthetics. Key goals included:

  • Taking advantage of the exceptional view of the Cape Cod Bay.
  • Maximizing the space to include specialized storage.
  • Increasing function and flow of the kitchen area.
  • Updating overall look and feel.
  • Personalize the space to make it their own.

The homeowners loved the finished kitchen! The final product reflected all of their goals and resulted in a space that has wonderful light, ease-of-use, and looks beautiful.

Larger windows were positioned over the sink to showcase the view and make meal preparation more enjoyable. Removing walls accompanied with strategic space planning allowed for better flow and more light in the entire first floor.

The cabinetry is creatively used to achieve multiple workstations to meet the client’s functional requirements of an open space. The use of honed granite countertops paired with painted and glazed cabinetry used in a unique layout are just a few of the features that will allow this kitchen to transcend time. Cabinetry, countertops, appliances, flooring and paint were intertwined with personal accouterments providing much needed color and texture to reflect client’s style
